Blossom Antenatal Evaluation

Information for participants

Blossom antenatal has been running classes for over two years now. Throughout this time we have collected feedback, and know that people attending our classes enjoy them and feel more confident.

Now, we want to understand more about your experience of attending Blossom classes and the impact that has on you as expectant and new parents. This will help us to understand what new parents want and how we can deliver it in the most effective way.

Specifically, we want to know

• Who attends Blossom classes (so we will ask for ‘demographic ‘ information including your ethnicity, whether you consider yourself to have a disability and your postcode)
• The impact of Blossom classes. So, after Blossom classes:
  • Do expectant and new parents have the information they need?
  • Do expectant and new parents feel confident making a decision about feeding their baby?
  • Do expectant and new parents feel excited about their baby, and know where to access good support?

We are also working with Royal Holloway, University of London on a research project to understand loneliness in expectant or new parents and the impact of Blossom antenatal classes. So some of the questions will look at this and anonymous responses will be shared  with the researchers.

You can answer as many or as few of the questions as you feel comfortable with.

Who will take part?

We are inviting all people who take Blossom classes to complete our surveys.

What do people have to do?

We will share links with you for surveys at four different times.

Ideally people will complete all the surveys, but even one will be useful.

Will I have to give my name?

Our independent evaluators and Royal Holloway researchers will not have any of your personal details and your responses will be completely anonymous.

You will log into your Blossom account to complete the surveys. This will mean your membership number is included with your responses. This enables us to track your answers across all of the surveys you complete. Your responses will be shared with our evaluators however your name and other identifying information will not be.

At the end of some surveys, we’ll ask if you are OK to be contacted so we can talk to you and find out more. If you are willing, then we’ll ask for your name.
 

What will happen with my answers

• Our evaluation team will put all the responses on a spreadsheet and carry out some analysis. The spreadsheet will not include any identifying information.
• We’ll put the information into a report and share it on our website.
• We’ll also use the report and findings to talk to people and tell them about Blossom. Hopefully this will mean that even more people will benefit from Blossom classes.
• The Royal Holloway researchers will use their analysis to write an academic paper this will be entirely anonymous with no identifying information.
• If you change your mind about taking part in the evaluation and would like to withdraw your responses you can do so at any time by contacting hello@blossomantenatal.com
