Postnatal Drop-In

Support for You and Your Baby

This session is for parents with a newborn baby. You can come even if you are tired, worried, or unsure. This is a drop-in session and you do not need to book. You can come and go. The session is calm, friendly, and welcoming.

What we can help with:

Baby care

  • Feeding your baby (breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or mixed feeding)
  • Changing nappies
  • Bathing your baby
  • Understanding baby poo, skin, and weight
  • What is normal for newborn babies

Crying and sleeping

  • Why babies cry
  • How to calm your baby
  • Newborn sleep – what is normal
  • When crying or sleep might be a problem

Care for you

  • How you are feeling after birth
  • Tiredness and recovery
  • Looking after yourself in simple, realistic ways
  • Emotional wellbeing and mental health

Getting the right help

We will clearly explain:

  • When to see your GP
  • When to speak to your health visitor
  • When to go to A&E
  • How to use local services
  • Who to contact if you are worried about your baby or yourself
  • You can ask questions at any time.

Meeting other parents

You can:

  • Meet other parents with newborn babies
  • Talk as much or as little as you like
  • Sit quietly, listen, or just feed your baby
  • Families can also get support from our baby bank - we can provide essential baby items such as clothes, nappies, and equipment, and we will gently explain what is available and how to access it.

There is no pressure to talk or share. You are welcome, just as you are.
